About this Program
The Quality Sciences minor is designed to accelerate students' readiness to enter the life science industries by arming them with critical-thinking skills gained through immersion in science-based quality education and real-world experiences of the 21st century.
Meeting Crucial Needs
The pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, and consumer goods industries promote and protect patient health worldwide. At the heart of their ability to affect patient lives is the necessity to develop and manufacture products that consistently meet parameters supported by scientific research and data. This confidence in product safety and efficacy is grounded in quality science.
The holistic approach of the Quality Science minor combines the science, regulatory, and business acumen needed to:
- Mobilize enterprise-wide quality effectiveness grounded in science, data, stakeholder awareness, and regulatory intelligence
- Proactively anticipate and manage risk, optimize value and provide objectivity
- Understand the business in which employees operate and how to affect the outcome positively
Establish innovative systems to increase the right-first-time rate of cross-functional stakeholders, thus bolstering consumer and regulatory confidence in product safety, efficacy, and intended use.
Acquired Skills
- Graduates with a QS minor will gain breadth and depth in quality science, biotech stakeholder awareness, and regulatory intelligence.
- They will be armed with baseline skills to proactively anticipate and manage risk, optimize value and provide objectivity.
- They will understand the business in which employees operate and how to affect the outcome positively.
- They will be able to establish innovative systems to increase the right-first-time rate of cross-functional stakeholders, thus bolstering consumer and regulatory confidence in product safety, efficacy, and intended use.
Admissions and Scholarships
We offer a variety of scholarships to many science and engineering students. They are all hosted by Swenson College on one simple application that can be accessed here when the application process opens.

Explore chemistry through fun and educational demonstrations while hanging out with other people interested in chemistry.
This group is all about socializing and giving biology students a place to ask questions, meet faculty and learn more about what is going in the Biology Department.
We have several science and engineering groups on campus including, but not limited to, the Society of Women Engineers, the Order of the Engineer, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Engineers Without Borders, Women in Engineering and Science, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
